BOXE'S METHOD OF EXECUTION

The boxes are realised in wood(1) and entirely hand decorated; they reproduce decorative motif of Florentine monuments, in particular the marble and semiprecious stone marquetries.

The paint back ground is costituded by chalk and rabbit glue(2), (according to the traditional method of medieval painters), on which is later engraved the marquentry drawing with a burin. The color is then spread in following phases(3), each time very diluted to simulate the marble and semiprecious stone transparency; still for this reason between the several colour coats there are few rubber coats, until a total of fifteen passages.

The finish is realised with antiscratsc paints(4) on which is spread beeswax to beach the marble brightness and schine.
